Culminating Project Information

Deadlines for submission of a written culminating project:

  • Fall-1 2015: October 30
  • Fall-2 2015: December 18
  • Spring-1 2016: March 25
  • Spring-2 2016: May 5
  • Summer-1 2016: June 24
  • Summer-2 2016: August 5

If you submitted all required documents prior to the deadline and your grades were submitted, you can anticipate your degree to be posted about 3 weeks after the deadline for culminating project submission. If you have questions on your degree completion status, please call (320) 308-2113.

As you prepare to graduate, its important to demonstrate your ability to synthesize the experience through a culminating project. The following pages are available to help you successfully complete the requirements for a project that will better prepare you for further studies or employment after graduation.

Electronic Submission of Culminating Projects (ETD)

Beginning Fall 2015 electronic submission of written culminating projects (dissertations, theses, creative works, and starred papers) to The Repository (SCSU’s Institutional Repository) will be the preferred submission method.

Once submitted, approved, and published, culminating projects will be available to download from the IR and will be indexed on Google Scholar within 10 days of publication.

Students wishing to delay the publication of the culminating project in The Repository because of a pending publication in another source, patents pending, or other similar reasons, can request a renewable annual embargo. Note that the majority of journal publishers accept articles derived from theses or dissertations even when the thesis or dissertation is available in an open access repository.

Paper Submission of Culminating Projects

The School of Graduate Studies will accept paper submissions of culminating projects, but will no longer offer binding of culminating projects. Students selecting to submit by paper will be responsible for submitting, at minimum, one (1) hard bound (buckrum bound) copy according to University specifications and one (1) plain-paper copy along with the $10 microfilm fee to the School of Graduate Studies. Departments/programs may require additional bound copies. Students should check with the department to verify the number of required bound copies.
