Application for Graduation

The application for graduation for graduation is available as a PDF or in paper in the School of Graduate Studies. The application must be completed during the first four weeks of the semester and submitted to the School of Graduate Studies with the $25.00 application fee for master-level students and $35 for doctoral students. Failure to submit the application by the deadline will result in a delay in reviewing and processing your graduation.

Note: The application for graduation is valid for one term only. If you do not graduate during the application term you must reapply, however no additional application fee will be collected.

Preparation for the Ceremony

Deadline for participation:

Graduate students interested in participating in the Fall or Spring University commencement ceremony must complete the graduation application by the appropriate deadline. Information on the combined undergraduate and graduate ceremonies and the RSVP for commencement can be found on the Commencement Website.

Academic Regalia

The history and tradition of academic regalia goes back centuries. We strongly encourage students to honor this history by wearing the academic regalia appropriate to the degree and the academic program. For more information on the history of academic regalia and guidance on appropriate dress please visit the American Council on Education.

Master's Caps, Gowns, and Hoods

Caps, master's gowns, and hoods can be purchased at the Husky Bookstore in person or by phone (320.308.1489) beginning in November. Bookstore hours are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Thursday; 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Friday; and 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday.

Doctoral Tams, Gowns and Hoods

Doctoral tams and gowns can be rented and the hoods can be purchased at the Husky Bookstore in person or by phone (320.308.1489) beginning in April. Bookstore hours are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Thursday; 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Friday; and 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday. Students wishing to purchase custom-ordered academic regalia should contact the Husky Bookstore for more information (320.308.1489). Please note that it can take up to 10 weeks for a custom order to arrive.

NOTE: Commencement attendance does not imply that you have officially graduated. Please contact the School of Graduate Studies with any questions you have, or to confirm your degree clearance status.

Receiving Your Diploma

Graduating students will receive their diploma in the mail approximately eight weeks after the end of the semester. All diplomas are mailed to the diploma address. You must provide this address through the Online Services center at www.stcloudstate.edu/registrar. If you do not provide this address, receipt of your diploma will be delayed. If you experience any difficulty in entering your diploma address, please contact the registration helpline at 320. 308.3936.
