Distinguished Thesis Award
St. Cloud State University Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award
The School of Graduate Studies is pleased to announce Paul R. Keyworth as the recipient of the 2014 St. Cloud State University Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award. Mr. Keyworth's work is an outstanding example of master's level of applied linguistics writing which represents the best of SCSU. Mr. Keyworth is a 2015 graduate with an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language. The thesis chair was Dr. Ettien N. Koffi.

Each year the Faculty Association Graduate Committee and the School of Graduate Studies recognize one outstanding thesis completed during the last academic year or summer with the SCSU Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award. This thesis is then submitted by St. Cloud State University as its nominee for the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) Distinguished Thesis Award (see below).
Each master’s program with a thesis option is encouraged to select and submit one outstanding thesis. For more information on thesis eligibility, the nomination process and deadlines visit the Thesis Award webpage.
Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) Distinguished Thesis Award
For a number of years the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) has recognized scholarship and research at the master’s level through the MAGS Distinguished Thesis Award.
Each university in the Midwest is allowed to submit one thesis. From these, the MAGS award is selected. If selected by MAGS, the student receives a $750 honorarium from MAGS and travel expenses to attend the annual MAGS conference.

The SCSU Excellence In Leadership Award
The University Award for Excellence in Leadership identifies and honors students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership while at St. Cloud State University. The program recognizes students who, through their leadership efforts, have made significant contributions to St. Cloud State University and their communities based on an evaluation of their academic commitment and their leadership experiences.
Applications are due annually in January and awarded at an April banquet.

Graduate Student Achievement Award (2015 Recipients)
The Graduate Student Achievement Award identifies and honors graduate students who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to higher education. The School of Graduate Studies and Graduate Student Organization recognizes that every graduate student faces their own unique hurdles throughout their time in the graduate program. Commitment to education is demonstrated in many ways and each program is designed differently. The award winners are selected by their program faculty who work with the students everyday. The five categories that students can be nominated for are:
- Exceptional Academic Achievement
- Completion of research or other creative activity that is recognized by an external organization. This research or creative activity must already have been presented.
- Demonstration of extraordinary commitment to higher education
- Service to the community
- Unique contribution to St. Cloud State University
