The University is located 75 miles northwest of the large Minneapolis and St. Paul urban area (popularly called the Twin Cities) where, in addition to an international airport and the Mall of America, numerous cultural and educational opportunities are available. The St. Cloud area is comprised of the communities of St. Cloud, Waite Park, Sartell, St. Joseph, Sauk Rapids and St. Augusta. The population of the St. Cloud area is roughly 90,000, and the city lies along the scenic Mississippi River. Several parks are within walking distance, with a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities open to all in the community.
“After doing research, St. Cloud was the only
school in the area close enough to home that offered exactly what I
was looking for. The
faculty is experienced, knowledgeable, and willing to help with the students'
needs. The location was close enough to still venture and see family
when desired. Lastly, St. Cloud State ranks as top 20 master's
programs in the nation for my field of interest. I couldn't
have asked for more.”

For many area residents it's the growing economy, the caring people, and the four varied, breathtaking seasons that keep them here. Located in central Minnesota, St. Cloud has varying temperatures and climates. Many Minnesotans are outdoor-loving people; they are active in sports year-round, from swimming in the summer to cross-country skiing in the winter.
For others who relocate here, affordable housing, safe neighborhoods, easy access to recreation, excellent health care, and abundant cultural and educational opportunities are what brought them to this region. Rolling farmlands, sparkling lakes, peaceful woodlands and many nearby state parks make this a perfect place in which to live and recreate.
No matter why you come here, the St. Cloud area has hundreds of things to offer in a variety of ways -- a place to truly call home.
