South Central Minnesota Pride 2006

Show pride and increase visibility at the South Central Minnesota Pridefest September 15-17th.  We will be taking two vans to Mankato on Friday, Sept. 15th and staying at First Congregational United Church. The only costs to you will be food!  We return Sunday, Sept. 17th after a great weekend!  For more information and/or to sign up, stop by the office, Atwood B105, or email glbt@stcloudstate.edu

St. Cloud Out Meeting
St. Cloud Out, a St. Cloud area GLBTA community organization, has a meeting this Thursday, Sept. 14th at 7 pm (and continuing the second Thursdays of every month) at Mississippi Bean.

Women’s Action for Liberation and Leadership (WALL)
Formerly Women’s Equality Group (WEG), WALL is looking for new member and invites all to join them at the first meeting of the year: Thurs., Sept. 14 at the Women’s Center from 12-1:30. Food provided! Contact WALL at scsc_wall@yahoo.com if you are unable to attend, but still interested in joining.

Peace Studies Conference

Reconciling in Christ Leadership Training
University Lutheran Church will be hosting a Reconciling in Christ Leadership Training, a 3-day hands-on workshop to give participants skills and a knowledge base to expand teams of openly welcoming people of all sexual orientations and gender identities within area congregations. Solidarity Sunday Celebration
Dignity Twin Cities invites you to join them in celebrating Solidarity Sunday on October 8, 2006 (the Sunday before National Coming Out Day), at the noon Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul. The themes of Solidarity Sunday are building solidarity with friends who are not part of the GLBT community, and working to end violence, including spiritual violence, against GLBT people. Men Can Make a Difference Conference
October 13-14th at Cragun’s resort,
this conference is for men who desire a world in which they, their children, partners, parents and friends can live free from the threat of sexual harm and abuse. The conference will offer opportunities to hear from expert trainers, gain new information and strategies for preventing sexual violence, and join with other men to take action. Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women Conference

GLBT Services always invites students, faculty, and staff to volunteer and contribute in presenting, planning events, and more.  Let us know if you are interested in being part of our space safe office.

Speakers’ Bureau
If you are interested in presenting to classes, gaining experience in public speaking, or playing “Guess the Straight Person,” consider participating in Speakers’ Bureau!  A training session will be offered Friday, Sept. 22 from 4-6 pm at GLBT Services (B105 Atwood). Outloud! is an activist-oriented group responsible for planning Out Proud Week and other attention-grabbing events. It is a student organization whose theme is to build bridges and coalitions. queer. wants to publish your work! The theme for Fall 2006, is the internet.  Be part of the only undergraduate journal for discussion of what it means to be queer. GLBT Services has a growing media library that consists of fiction and reference books & video resources and is available to students, faculty and staff.  We offer literature and videos on a range of topics: coming out, gay marriage, the gay/lesbian movement, trans concerns, bisexuality, etc.  Stop by to check out or look through any resources that interest you.

Are you GLBT and having difficulty coming out?  Join a small, confidential group of people like yourself for mutual support during the coming out process. The SCSU Counseling Center is free to students and supportive of GLBT people. Please contact the counseling center at 308-3171 or the GLBT Services office at 308-5166 for more information.

 

Center for Therapeutic Choices

Counseling services are available at the Center for Therapeutic Choices in downtown St. Cloud.
