Canoe Shuttle
For GLBT History Month, we’ll be taking a canoe shuttle trip on Saturday morning, Oct. 28th! It will be great, so if you’re interested, please contact the center!

OutLoud meeting
OutLoud’s first meeting of the school year will be Wednesday, Oct. 18th from 3:30-4:30 in Atwood’s Iris room. Come with your ideas!

Women’s Empowerment and Assertiveness Workshop
Explore issues affecting women’s abilities to be confident and outspoken! Sessions held on Thursdays (Oct. 19, 26, and Nov. 2) at the Women’s Center from 5-7 pm for $5.00 registration fee. Contact Women’s Center 320-308-4958.

Guys and Balls (of yarn)
St. Cloud Men’s Knitting Group will be meeting every 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month at Mississippi Bean. If you don’t know how to knit, then come learn! Contact Jason@johnmark.net for more details.

MN Vote! All Day Registration
MN
Vote will be hosting an all day registration fest on Atwood Mall
TODAY  Tuesday, October 17th from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. There will be food, information, and voting registration!

Reconciling in Christ Leadership Training
University Lutheran Church will be hosting a Reconciling in Christ Leadership Training, a 3-day hands-on workshop to give participants skills and a knowledge base to expand teams of openly welcoming people of all sexual orientations and gender identities within area congregations. MN Out! Campus Conference
Nov. 3-4 at U of M—Twin Cities. For a $25 registration fee, participate in workshops covering a range of topics, network with GLBTA campus communities, and hear keynote addresses at the MN Out! Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women Conference
Oct 25-26 at Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge, Deerwood, Minnesota: share ideas, gain new perspectives, and create strategies to deal with the many challenges we face in our work to end violence against women and children. The theme of the conference this year is Forging Alliances, Expanding Our Base: Promoting Justice, Providing Safety and Preparing for the Future for All Battered Women and Their Children. Volunteer!

GLBT Services always invites students, faculty, and staff to volunteer and contribute in presenting, planning events, and more.  Let us know if you are interested in being part of our safe space office.  We are currently looking for volunteers who are willing to be in the center for any amount of time throughout the week to welcome any students, faculty, or staff who may come in.

Speakers’ Bureau

GLBTQ students and study abroad
College of St. Benedict’s and St. John’s University are working on a DVD about GLBTQ students and their experiences in studying abroad and ask GBLTQ students to share their perspectives and stories in study abroad programs. Outloud! is an activist-oriented group responsible for planning Out Proud Week and other attention-grabbing events. It is a student organization whose theme is to build bridges and coalitions. queer. wants to publish your work! The theme for Fall 2006, is the internet.  Be part of the only undergraduate journal for discussion of what it means to be queer. GLBT Services has a growing media library that consists of fiction and reference books & video resources and is available to students, faculty and staff.  We offer literature and videos on a range of topics: coming out, gay marriage, the gay/lesbian movement, trans concerns, bisexuality, etc.  Stop by to check out or look through any resources that interest you.

Are you GLBT and having difficulty coming out?  The SCSU Counseling Center is free to students and supportive of GLBT people. Please contact the counseling center at 308-3171 or the GLBT Services office at 308-5166 for more information.

 

Center for Therapeutic Choices

Counseling services are available at the Center for Therapeutic Choices in downtown St. Cloud.
