Tuesday’s Queer Film Series
GLBT Services will be hosting Tuesday’s Queer Film Series during spring semester. Films are free and open to the public! They will be shown in Atwood Little Theatre at 7 p.m.

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Speaks
Dr.
Wangari Maathai, founder of The Green Belt Movement, will be speaking Jan. 31st at 7:30 pm in Ritsche Auditorium.

Gender Youth Leadership Summit 
The Gender Youth Network is hosting “Bridge the Gap 2007 Leadership Summit” May 17-19th in Washington, D.C. It is an action orientated gathering of youth and students organizing around gender as a fundamental human right. Take action with activists across the country! Guys and Balls (of yarn)
St. Cloud Men’s Knitting Group will be meeting every 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month at Mississippi Bean. If you don’t know how to knit, then come learn! Contact Jason@johnmark.net for more details.

Alternative Spring Break!
Volunteer Connection is sending three ASB Services Trips around the country over spring break, March 3-11, 2007. Destinations include Lame Deer, Montana (www.ncbgclub.org); Golden Pond, Kentucky (www.friendsoflbl.org); and Biloxi, Mississippi (www.handsongulfcoast.org). Volunteer!

GLBT Services always invites students, faculty, and staff to volunteer and contribute in presenting, planning events, and more.  Let us know if you are interested in being part of our safe space office.  We are currently looking for volunteers who are willing to be in the center for any amount of time throughout the week to welcome any students, faculty, or staff who may come in.

Vagina Monologues production is looking for individuals to direct, act, and help put on February’s production. If interested in any way, please contact Courtny (waco0301@stcloudstate.edu) or Kara (haka0406@stcloudstate.edu).

Certificate in Volunteer Leadership

Research Volunteer Opportunities

College experience research on the student experiences for LGBTQ students on college campuses. Ph.D. students are seeking participants to share their positive or negative experiences during college that could have implications for how college administrators might better serve LGBTQ students. Parental Support for Gay Men and Lesbians
A doctoral candidate is conducting research to learn more about the aspects of parental social support for gay men and lesbians and requests participation in completing a brief series of questionnaires. Outloud!

Outloud! is an activist-oriented group responsible for planning Out Proud Week and other attention-grabbing events. It is a student organization whose theme is to build bridges and coalitions. For more information contact Outloud! at outloud@stcloudstate.edu or at their office, AMC 131.

PrideAlive, a program of the Minnesota AIDS project, has two open positions for Health Education Coordinators. The program uses a community-building model with social programming to bring gay and bisexual men together to prevent HIV. Transgender Studies and Feminism: Theory, Politics, and Gendered Realities
Journal of Feminist Philosophy is calling for papers that investigate the relations between feminism and transgender studies, exploring the intersections of multiple oppressions are especially welcome. Transportation Service available to SCSU students, faculty, and staff. An electronic board is designed to connect drivers who can provide transportation to those in need of transportation. GLBT Services has a growing media library that consists of fiction and reference books & video resources and is available to students, faculty and staff.  We offer literature and videos on a range of topics: coming out, gay marriage, the gay/lesbian movement, trans concerns, bisexuality, etc.  Stop by to check out or look through any resources that interest you.
