PURPOSE: To gain knowledge about the professions of aging services and volunteer management; to gain direct service experience by helping RSVP accomplish program goals and objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop a set of goals to be accomplished during internship; Develop an understanding of RSVP’s history, mission, philosophy and policies; Learn how to do volunteer enrollments, recruitments, placements and follow-ups; Learn to work cooperatively with RSVP agencies through contract updates, volunteer placements and site visits; Help with publicity efforts. Organize Special Events (orientations, recognitions, trainings.)
REQUIREMENTS: Good attitude towards aging, volunteerism and RSVP’s mission and philosophy; Ability to relate and communicate well with others; Willingness to learn and carry out specific duties and projects; Good organizational skills. Good telephone skills.
TIME COMMITMENT: Varies according to terms of particular internship.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Application process involves sending a cover letter and resume followed by a personal interview with RSVP internship supervisors.
Office hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 – 4:30 (1/2 hour for lunch.) Flexible scheduling available.
Office space includes a desk, computer and phone for interns. A car is helpful; Mileage reimbursement is available. Training and workshop opportunities may be available.
Internship Opportunity
We would love to meet with you and those students who are interested to discuss our partnership with an intern. Currently our Sartell Senior Connection group has established leadership, by-laws, and some great programs. We are going to be 3 years old this fall! We function under the Sartell/St. Stephen Community Education as a 501C3 non-profit.
Our group of seniors has a list of some ideas to grow our membership. Please share this with the potential interns.
We could use the talents of interns for the following projects.
1. Start a newsletter - type - mail. Any part of this would be very appreciated.
2. Staff our Sartell Senior Connection Center at 212 3rd Avenue North in Sartell. Open during the week - hours could be flexible.
3. Start a website
4. Ideas for programs, marketing, conducting classes and assistance with classes.

Human Resource Intern - Country Manor Campus
Country Manor Campus was built and family owned in July, 1969. What began as a 64 bed nursing home quickly evolved into the optimal care facility. Now, in 2010 we have Champion Rehab, Home Health Care, Country Villa and Senior Apartments, Kids Country, Beuty Shops, Country Care-A-Van, Long term care,and over 500 caring and dedicated employees.
Country Manor Campus is currently looking for a Human Resource Intern to work 24-32 hours bi-weekly. The intern would be responsible for assisting with entering HRIS Data, employee recognition, employee perks cards, employee selection process, trainings and the safety committee.
Applicant must be in an HR Related field and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicant must possess time management skills, organizational skills, and communication skills.

Program Development Intern

Description:
The Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging (AAAA) is seeking a Gerontology or Health Education student intern for the summer of 2010. The primary focus will be to implement an evidence-based nutrition education program targeted towards older adults in our service region. Under the guidance of the AAAA’s program development staff, existing evidenced-based programs will be researched, an implementation plan will be designed, local partners will be identified (as necessary) and a pilot project will be conducted. It is anticipated that during the course of the internship there will also be opportunities to work with other AAAA programs, providing the intern with a well-rounded view of the work of the agency.
Duties and Responsibilities
Research evidence-based nutrition programs and supporting material to determine which program will work best in the Arrowhead Region
Present a summary of the research to a team of AAA staff members and work with this team to select the most appropriate program for implementation.
Design an implementation plan for the program
Design marketing materials for the program
If time allows, be trained as a leader for the program
Assist with teaching at least one class in the region
Determine on-going staffing needs and responsibilities for the program
Explore opportunities for program continuation and/or expansion beyond the pilot program
Assist with various consumer education opportunities as they arise.
Meet on a regular basis with supervising program development staff
Identify additional areas of student interest and pursue if feasible.
Qualifications
A positive mind-set about aging
A interest in developing education programs for older adults
A knowledge of elder nutrition needs would be helpful but not required
Good organizational skills
Ability to relate and communicate with others well
Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
Additional Information
This is a non-paid internship. The Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging is willing to modify the internship to meet academic requirements.

Foster Grandparent Program Intern
Program Name: Foster Grandparent Program
Location: 157 Roosevelt Road, St. Cloud, MN 56301
Job Summary: The Intern will be part of the Foster Grandparent team at Catholic Charities. The Foster Grandparent program (FGP) is one of 13 FGP's in the country. They currently have over 250 Foster grandparents that work with children from different school districts and/or special units of school districts.
Activities: The Foster Grandparent Program Intern works closely with the Foster Grandparent Program staff as support for the overall management of the program. The Intern may be responsible for:
1) Outreach & public relations: including preparing displays, media articles, writing and distributing news releases, Public Service Announcements, articles, etc.
2) Recruitment of new Foster Grandparent volunteers, including initial contacts, interviewing, orientating, and placing new volunteers.
3) Program management: including maintaining Foster Grandparent records, recognition activities, and planning & executing an annual evaluation of one aspect of the program.
Hours: Flexible hours 15 - 20 hours a week.

Senior Services Intern

Job Summary: The Senior Services Intern is a new opportunity that involves assisting with our Senior Dining and Meals on Wheels programs. This position will assist staff at the Senior Dining sites, implement a monthly department newsletter and work on media / press releases.

Health Services Management intern
The Health Services Management Intern will take direction from Opportunity Manor’s Golden Opportunities Program Director to perform a multitude of tasks related to developing, marketing, and managing a gerontology program within a non-profit organization. Students will have the unique opportunity to assist in designing exactly what areas they want to focus on during the internship.
This is an invaluable opportunity for students who are interested in gaining first-hand insight into all aspects of management of a gerontology program for a non-profit health services organization. Not only will the Health Services Management Intern gain knowledge into the world of a non-profit, but will also improve their understanding of Dementia/Alzheimer’s Disease, the role management plays within the program and the regulations surrounding this exciting field! In addition, the Health Services Management Intern may also have the opportunity to work with consumers, family members and community members to help gain a better understanding of the Golden Opportunities program and the role it plays in the community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete S.W.O.T analysis on the Golden Opportunities program to determine current market standings in relation to competitors within a 30 mile radius.
As identified by the completed S.W.O.T analysis, compile a list of possible opportunities for the programs growth. This includes identifying possible partnerships within the community and field.
As delegated by the program director, research in detail, areas of possible growth for the program.
Prepare report(s) exhibiting forecasted financial commitment, expenses, revenues, and staffing needs for proposed program growth.
Research and compile list of contact names and articles solidifying the importance of researched and proposed programs.
Development of marketing materials, which may include: flyers, educational literature, logo(s), and brochures.
Attend/lead staff meetings including development of meeting agenda.
Develop a basic understanding of the rules and regulations surrounding an Adult Day Services program.
Assist with determining staffing needs and scheduling.
Assist in ensuring adherence to the Golden Opportunities yearly plan/goals and develop solutions to any program problems.
Attend meetings with the program director including the Community Involvement Strategic Planning Sub-Committee.
