The Gerontology Program

The St. Cloud State University Gerontology Program, a part of the School of Health and Human Services, is an interdisciplinary course of study providing students with an integrated perspective on aging and older adults. The program combines classroom instruction, service-learning, internships and other experiential activities in order to integrate current theory and practice in the field of aging. An undergraduate minor, a Master of Science degree, and a graduate certificate are offered.

What Is Gerontology?

Gerontology is the science that studies the process of aging in various dimensions: social, cultural, psychological, biological, demographic, political, legal, economic, educational, business and programmatic.

Consider the Possibilities

The Gerontology Program offers personalized attention and a range of academic and applied opportunities to provide students with an integrated perspective on aging. The program is designed to provide a knowledge base for students with a wide range of career and personal goals, including but not limited to: public policy and programs; retail consumer markets; health care; social services; banking and business; long term care; transportation and travel; international development; community planning and pursuit of an advanced graduate degree.

Mark Your Calendar! Gero Club and SPO are planning a visit to the CentraCare Balance and Dizziness Center

The visit will take place on February 15th at 12:00 PM at the CentraCare Health Plaza. John Sipe from the Balance and Dizziness Center will be giving a tour and answering questions. If you would like to attend please email Jenny W. at wrje1001@stcloudstate.edu .

The Balance and Dizziness Center is located at the CentraCare Health Plaza off Hwy 15 behined Hennen's Furniture.  You can park in the patient parking area for the River East entrance.  Once inside, you can go straight past the Coborn's Cancer Center to the main hallway which will be on the right.  Above the entrance to the main hallway is a sign directing you to Adult Rehabilitation.  This is where the Balance and Dizziness program is located.  The receptionist will direct you to the waiting area where John will meet us to give us the tour.

Join Gero Club and SPO in the American Heart Association St. Cloud Heart Walk!

The Gerontology Club and Sigma Phi Omega will be participating in the American Heart Association St. Cloud Heart Walk on April 28th, 2012 at the Centra Care Plaza. The walk starts at 8:50 and ends at 10:30. We will be walking that day, you can join us to walk, donate or participate in both.
