The General Education Curriculum at St. Cloud State University was last revised in 1997 during the transition from the quarter system to the semester system. The General Education Committee (GEC) for the last two years has been considering revisions to the current curriculum in response to faculty and student concerns. Many of these concerns are discussed in the March 21, 2005 Position Paper Concerning General Education Review available under Documents and Policies. This paper was accepted by both SCSU Strategic Planning and Faculty Senate this last spring. As we approach North Central Accreditation (NCA) review, we hope to invigorate, improve, and strengthen our General Education Curriculum. We want to involve our colleagues in a campus-wide discussion of the revision. This website will allow for open discussion and exchange of information.
A General Education discussion forum has been established to let you participate in discussions with the General Education Committee and other faculty who are interested in general education issues. First of all, subscribe to the discussion list on the home page. Then, send your messages to gened-discuss@stcloudstate.edu. We look forward to including you in our conversations!
