Foreign Languages and Literature

What Can I do with a Degree in a Foreign Language?

Studying another language is more than just learning new words. The study of a foreign language involves learning communication skills from another culture. Knowing another language and culture is often a skill to be added to another field of study. This interdisciplinary background is an asset to offer to an employer. Knowledge of another language and culture prepares students for a variety of careers both in this country and around the world. "International" is not a term to describe a specific academic program. It is the realm in which business, banking, political, educational, and interpersonal transactions take place. Language skills may be taken into account when making decisions concerning applicants who could best serve in an overseas assignment.
