About the Program
After an Independent Study course on campus of SCSU, students arrive in Eichstätt for two weeks of of intensive German study and cultural orientation. Students earn 12-15 credits from courses taught by the KU Faculty. Courses include literature, civilization, grammar and history.
About Eichstätt
Eichstätt is a small University town that attracts tourists and students from all over Germany. The Altmühl Nature Park, which surrounds the city is known for its cycling, canoeing and hiking. The city's large cathederal, castle, residence and other attractions bring in many tourists every year. Eichstätt sponsors festivals throughout the year, which are always within walking distance. The KU offers excellent opportunities to get involved in the community, whether it is playing soccer, organizing a community event or other activities which fit your interests. The city of Eichstätt is convenientally located between Nürnberg and Munich (München) in Bavaria. Ingolstadt, another large town is located just southeast and takes 25 minutes by train.
About the Program
Students attend Akita National University and take classes within Akita's School of Education and Human Studies. These include courses in education, regional studies, international language, cultural studies, environmental studies, and mathematical sciences. Language classes at all levels are offered and are the only courses taught in English.
About Akita
Akita National University is located in the Western part of Tohoku region, the northeastern district of the main island of Honshu (the main island of Japan). The university lies in the center of Akita City which has a population of about 310,000 and is about 350 miles from the capital of Tokyo. The city is surrounded by mountains and the sea. There is a multitude of natural scenery and lush vegetation that change with the four seasons. Many festivals and other activities are held throughout the year.
About the Program
The Chile-Concepción program is composed of five courses: three in Spanish, one in Latin American Studies, and one in Social Sciences. An optional independent study course is also available, for a total of 18 semester credits (3 credits each). Most courses are taught in Spanish which will include practical application of the language.
About Concepción
Known as the ‘string bean’ country, Chile has a wide array of features from the Andes Mountains to the beautiful beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Chile is fascinating in every way- geographically, ecologically, politically, socially and culturally. Concepción is located in the central part of Chile known as the Eighth Region. This region holds 13 percent of the population with approximately 2 million inhabitants. The climate of the region is well defined seasons with a dry summer and a chilly, wet winter.
