Types of Financial Aid
Scholarships
First Year Students:
St. Cloud State University seeks to reward high achieving students for their academic successes through various scholarship opportunities. Scholarships for first year students are two types:
- First Year Student (Freshman) Scholarships: First year students who are admitted to the University prior to scholarship deadlines will be considered for all scholarships for which they meet the minimum requirements. These competitive scholarships, awarded through the Office of Admissions, will not require an additional application. Scholarships are merit based, factoring into consideration a student’s academic record (high school rank, GPA, and curriculum) and standardized test scores (ACT or SAT). To be eligible, students must earn traditional admission into the University and have official ACT or SAT scores on file with the Office of Admissions prior to the following deadlines:
- Fall Semester Enrollment: Apply for admission prior to December 15
- Spring Semester Enrollment: Apply for admission prior to October 15
- Foundation-Sponsored Scholarships: While the majority of St. Cloud State scholarships are awarded based on a student’s application for admission,
SCSU also offers scholarships provided by friends and alumni of the University. These scholarships require additional information and students must complete the scholarship application by January 25 to be considered. Please carefully read the award descriptions to determine your eligibility. Details of and the application for the scholarships may be found at: http://www.stcloudstate.edu/scsu4u/financing/first-year.asp
