Student loans are an important source of funding to pay for educational expenses. First-time borrowers of the federal Direct Loan and Minnesota SELF Loan programs must complete loan entrance counseling before the first loan disbursement can be made. The loan counseling will take approximately 20-25 minutes.
Students who borrow funds through these programs need to know their rights and responsibilities. Loan entrance counseling is one way to learn this important information. The loan entrance counseling provides an overview of your rights and responsibilities as a student borrow as well as information to help you determine how much you need to borrow.
Please select the appropriate website below and complete the entrance loan counseling information. You will need to indicate that your school is St. Cloud State University. Once you complete your loan entrance counseling, an email notification will automatically be generated to St. Cloud State’s Financial Aid Office notifying us that you have completed your loan counseling requirement(s).
Remember: If you borrow under both the federal Direct and the Minnesota SELF loan programs, you will need to complete both of the loan entrance requirements.
