Grants

National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART)
The federal SMART Grant is awarded to students only through the 2010-2011 aid year and who meet the following criteria:

  • U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • Pell Grant eligible for the current academic year.
  • Junior or senior undergraduate.
  • Admitted to a major in one of several areas related to science, mathematics or foreign language, (defined by US Department of Education).
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Enrolled at least 12 credits or more by the end of the free drop/add period to receive the full-time award.  Students enrolled in 6-11 credits may receive a reduced award amount.
  • Progressing satisfactorily toward SMART Grant-eligible major.
