Consortium Agreements:

A consortium agreement allows a student to receive financial aid at St. Cloud State University (SCSU) for coursework taken at another institution (visited institution) if the coursework is applicable to his/her specific degree program of study at SCSU.

Students taking coursework at another MnSCU school:

  • Complete the one page MnSCU Consortium Agreement form. This form is for students attending MnSCU schools only. This form is also available in the SCSU Office of Records and Registration, AS Building, Room 118.
  • After you complete the consortium agreement form, submit it to the SCSU Office of Records and Registration, AS Building Room 118.
  • This form must be completed and submitted to the SCSU Office of Records and Registration by the last day to withdraw for the requested term to be considered for approval.

Students taking coursework at a non-MnSCU school have additional criteria that need to be met in order to be eligible for a consortium agreement. A student attending a non-MnSCU school must meet these term:

  • GPA: cumulative St. Cloud State GPA of 2.50 or higher prior to the term for which you are requesting the consortium agreement
  • Credits: at least 24 completed SCSU credits prior to the term for which you are requesting the consortium agreement. Post-Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) credits taken at SCSU can be counted in this calculation.
  • Courses must fit into an eligible course of study at St. Cloud State University.
  • Have applied for financial aid at SCSU for the period that a consortium agreement is being requested.
  • Be in compliance with SCSU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy for financial aid recipients.
  • Must show a change in financial aid award eligibility by having the consortium course(s) approved. If the course(s) does not change financial aid award eligibility, the student can transfer in the course(s) once the course(s) is completed.
  • Have Direct Deposit established at SCSU.
  • Submit the completed consortium agreement form to the SCSU Financial Aid Office prior to the end of the drop period for the term you are requesting the agreement. This form is available by contacting our office.

For both MnSCU and non-MnSCU consortium agreements, SCSU does not pay the other school, it is your (the student) responsibility to pay the other school. St. Cloud State will process the financial aid based on credits at St. Cloud State and those accepted in the agreement for the other school. The aid you receive is first applied to your St. Cloud State account. Any overage, if there is one, is sent to you. It is your responsibility to use this overage to pay the other school for the courses taken at the other school . St. Cloud State will not pay the other school for you.
