Applying for Financial Aid

Announcements - Forms - Entrance Loan Counseling - Frequently Asked Questions - Contact Us

You must apply for financial aid every academic year. If you applied for financial aid this academic year, you may access your renewal FAFSA information at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You will need your federal PIN and password to access your renewal FAFSA.

If you did not apply for financial aid this academic year, you should apply for a federal PIN at www.pin.ed.gov. This PIN will act as your electronic signature when you apply for financial aid on-line.

Application Process

You should complete your federal income tax returns as soon as possible after January 1. Having completed tax returns will make the application process much easier.

There are two steps to apply for financial aid at St. Cloud State University.

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
SCSU's Federal School Code is: 002377

  2. Complete the SCSU Application for Financial Aid. Be sure to select the correct aid year for the application. The application should be completed and returned to our office along with copies of your federal income tax return and wage statements (W2s and 1099). Married students will also need to send copies of spouse's federal income tax returns and wage statements.

NOTE: If you experience a substantial change in income due to death, disability, unemployment or other similar circumstances, submit a letter of explanation of your situation with your SCSU Application for Financial Aid. If you have already submitted your application, send a separate letter of your situation for us to review.
