Student Employee of the Year

The Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY) program is an opportunity for supervisors to individually recognize student employees (work study or non-work study), who have made outstanding contributions and achievements to the SCSU campus and partnering community agencies through their student employment.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  • All students employed through the student employment program at St. Cloud State University (work study and student salaries), including students working in approved off-campus community service or tutoring positions.
  • Resident advisors, graduate assistants, and teaching assistants are not eligible unless they are employed through the student employment program.
  • Students must be employed for a minimum of 3 months full-time or 6 months part-time between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012 (anticipated).
  • Nominations will be evaluated on the following qualities: reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism, and uniqueness of contribution.(In case of a tie, uniqueness of contribution is the deciding factor.)

Nomination Deadline

Nomination deadline is Friday, February 17, 2012 at 4:30PM.

Recognition and Award Information

  • All nominees (plus one guest per nominee) and the nominators will be invited to an invitation only Recognition and Awards Ceremony in April. This event is only open to the nominees and nominator(s) to attend, not the nominee's entire department. Supervisors are encouraged to host a special recognition in their department for all of their department's student employees.
  • Nominees will have a professional quality photograph displayed in the Atwood Center during National Student Employment Week, April 8-14, 2012.
  • Each nominee will receive a certificate of recognition. Runners up and the selected SEOTY will receive a gift in addition to the certificate.
  • The St. Cloud State University SEOTY will advance to state competition in March. State SEOTY winners receive a certificate and a $75.00 from the Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators (MASEA).

National Student Employment Week - April 8-14, 2012

This special week is an opportunity to recognize all student employees for the work they do. Whether you decide to nominate a student or not, you are encouraged to recognize your student employees in some way during this national recognition week. Attached are some recognition ideas for students for you and your department/agency.

2011 Nominees

The 2011 Student Employee of the Year and Runners Up were announced on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at a Recognition and Awards Reception in their honor. Each nominee received a certificate of recognition; the Student Employee of the Year and Runners Up also received gift cards to the campus bookstore.
