“The Little Prince/El Principito”
A Bilingual Play
Performed by: El Cuerpo de Artes Teatrales (CAT)
Universidad de Puerto Rico, Cayey Campus.
St. Cloud State University (SCSU), in conjunction with Great Theater, is pleased to welcome El Cuerpo de Artes Teatrales (CAT), a student theater group from Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR) Cayey Campus, to St. Cloud on April 14th-18th, 2014.
El Cuerpo de Artes Teatrales (CAT) was founded on 2004 by UPR students Humberto Torrres and Oscar Gonzales. The organization’s mission is to create a series of socio-cultural activities where theater is promoted as a universal language, and where its Hispanic roots are highlighted nationally and internationally.
In 2008, CAT was awarded first prize at the International Festival de la Beira Interior in Portugal with the play “A Trip Around the World in 80 Days”. They competed against similar student groups from Mexico, Spain, Brazil, and Portugal.
CAT is planning in offering two performance of the bilingual play “The Little Prince/El Principito” this spring in Minnesota. The play is based on the book “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. The story contains reflections on the themes of friendship, love, imagination, and the significance of an individual in the world. It is also known for its childlike simplicity and profound wisdom.
Performance at SCSU campus will be held on April 16th from 5pm to 6pm (Atwood Theater) followed by a reception in the Theater Lounge area.
