Remembering WWI: Interviews with the Last of the Doughboys"

Date: April 8, 2014
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Location: James W. Miller Learning Resources Center MC-122 (Aud.)
Description: Speakers. Richard Rubin, author and journalist, will speak about his experiences in researching for his 2013 book, "The Last of the Doughboys:  The Forgotten Generation and Their Forgotten War."  In 2003, Rubin sought to interview a WWI veteran, but the search was difficult.  Finally, he found one and then another and then another, for a total of 30.  He videotaped his meetings with each veteran, sometimes meeting with them 2 or 3 times.  For some of these men and women, this was the first time they talked of their experiences during WWI.  Prior to Rubin's presentation will be incidental music from WWI as well as student readings of WWI materials found in SCSU Archives.  A Reception, co-hosted by students from the Veterans Resource Center and Student Veterans Organization at SCSU, will follow in the 2nd floor reading court. PRE-REGISTRATION PLEASE by calling University Advancement at 320-308-3177 or e-mailing
