||Speakers. Paul Baidoo, development geographer and lecturer, University of Cape Coast, Ghana & Fulbright African Senior Research Scholar, SCSU Department of Geography and Planning will discuss how food security has become a major problem for many African countries, especially those countries in the arid areas of the continent. The Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Ghana, and some non-governmental organizations have provided several interventions to ensure food security among rural farmers in the northern region of Ghana. However, there are indications that these have not had the desired impact. There could be several reasons for this among which “the role of peasant farmers in the achievement of food security for themselves” examines.
