Humanitarian aid worker, Carl Wilkens refused to leave Rwanda when the genocide started in 1994. He was the only American to remain in the country. Each day he ventured out into streets crackling with mortars and gunfire, roadblocks of angry, bloodstained soldiers and civilians armed with machetes and assault rifles in order to bring food, water and medicine to groups of orphans trapped around the city. His actions saved the lives of hundreds.
Free and open to the public. 10/14/2013 from 2:00-4:00pm at the Great River Regional Library downtown St. Cloud, MN.
