TESL MA courses: Electives: 6 credits
Generally, most students in the program take electives from the other courses in Pedagogy or Linguistics: over and above the 21 required credits in this major part of the program. Indeed, these courses are the only alternative that online TESL MA students have if they complete the whole TESL MA online through SCSU.
Students combining the TESL MA with the K-12 ESL license will always have three credits of electives determined by the K-12 ESL licensure TESL courses requirement, as the licensure requires 24 credits of course work and so exceeds the 21 credits of TESL courses in the major.
At the same time, if students have other graduate courses that meet the transfer criteria listed at Transfer Credits, then they could transfer 3 or 6 credits of course work even from a non-TESL related disciplines.
