Summer ESL Camp - First Day
First Day
The first day will begin slowly as we expect that everyone will sleep in after the long trip. The mentors will take the student to brunch at 11:30.
The program will begin officially with our Opening Ceremony and Welcome Orientation at 2:00.
After the opening ceremony and after dinner on this first day, mentor groups will take the students walking around campus as much as possible with the hope that exercise will help the students overcome jet lag as quickly as possible.
· The mentor groups will complete a campus scavenger hunt. This scavenger hunt will take the students around campus to the library where they can read newspapers in their first language or send email message home or to friends. You can take a Virtual Tour of the campus now.
· The groups may also take a hike on the Beaver Island Trail along the bank of the Mississippi River.
Back in the dormitory, students will get a chance to see the coin operated laundry facilities and to try them out if they so wish.
