Disruptive Behavior

Contact St. Cloud Police (911) and/or SCSU Public Safety (320-308-3333), in the event of student crisis situations.  That office will make appropriate contacts and referrals. 

Student Crises Include (but are not limited to):

  • Alcohol and other drug use emergencies (could be medical emergency)
  • Mental health/behavioral incidents or concerns
  • Aberrant, dangerous or threatening behavior
  • Sexual assault
  • Threats to public welfare

YOU SHOULD:

  1. Remain calm. Your reaction to the situation can provoke the individual(s)
  2. Identify if the situation is placing anyone in immediate danger; if not, a complaint should be filed with Public Safety, Residential Life (if appropriate), Office of Student Life & Development or Women’s Center.

  3. If there is immediate danger:
      1. Request the individuals leave the area.
        If it fails:
        1. Request another person leave the area and call SCSU Public Safety (308-3333).  
        2. Maintain a safe distance from the suspect until emergency personnel arrive.  Do not attempt to subdue the individual.  Avoid direct eye contact, if possible, with the suspect.

If the situation becomes threatening before SCSU Public Safety personnel have arrived, call 911 and remove all from area.
