Graduate Programs
We accept the GMAT or GRE for both of our graduate programs.
We require a score of 79 or better on the internet-based TOEFL, and a minimum GPA of 2.75.
Master of Science in Applied Economics
The M.S. in Applied Economics program emphasizes the practical aspects of economic theory and a solid foundation of econometrics and forecasting. The program requires a total of 36 credits of courses including managerial economics, business cycles and forecasting, econometrics, international economics, microeconomics and macroeconomics, all taught by faculty who have years of experience teaching in the relevant fields. In addition, many of our faculty has published research articles in prominent field journals as well as books for area specialists. Although our goal is to prepare students to work in business analysis and forecasting for firms and government, a few have chosen to pursue a Ph.D. in economics or another relevant discipline after their degree. Past placements include the Internal Revenue Service, Xcel Energy, Proctor and Gamble, US Bank, Target Corporation, Christensen Associates, Resource Information Systems, Inc. and National Water and Electricity Company in the Gambia.

5-Year BA/MS Program in Applied Economics
We have a five-year program for economics majors who maintain a 3.3 GPA and want to earn both a B.A. in Economics and a M.S. in Applied Economics.

Master of Science in Public and Nonprofit Institutions (PNI)
The M.S. in Public and Nonprofit Institutions is designed to apply economic theory and public administration principles to real world problems. This is an interdisciplinary program that exhibits important strengths in economic analysis and public policy administration, and in rigorous problem solving and policy analytic skills. Students will receive training in the application of economic theory to issues confronting nonprofit institutions. These issues include the reason for these types of institutions and their place in society, ascertaining the demand for their services, achieving objectives at the least cost, and performance evaluation. Courses in political science and public administration will prepare students for dealing with diverse agendas of different groups, surveying public opinion, and solving managerial problems that are particular to nonprofit institutions.
