Horizons Conference 2002

This year the Society of Women Engineers held their annual Horizons Conference on February 23, with approximately 95 girls in attendance. The girls participated in three workshops and a group project at the end of the conference.

The following hands-on workshops were organized for the Horizons Conference:

  1. Voice Signal Processor What does sound look like? See the patterns of your voice and sound
  2. Processes for Production Demonstration of a manufacturing process.

  3. Computer tear down Take apart a computer and see if you can put it back together.
  4. Smart Production Use of computers to machine parts. Students will be able to see and use software to make products on a mill.
  5. Clue/Principle of sound wave How does sound come out of a speaker? Find out!
  6. Forensics-Chemistry for kids Fingerprinting, chromatography, and hair comparisons
  7. Turtle Graph
  8. Robotics Demonstration of a robot, students will be able to program.
  9. Acids and Bases
