The discussion revolved around the proposed General Education goal areas, and their impact on the Engineering Curriculum. Some issues:
1. There is a lack of technology in the goal areas listed. Some thought needs to be put into technology and society for a well rounded education.
2. Some goal areas may be met by the program, rather than an individual course.
3. Dr. Yi Zheng volunteered to help write student outcomes in the Global Perspectives area.
4. Dr. Tim Vogt volunteered to help write student outcomes in the Natural Environment goal area.
5. There are possibilities for engineering courses in several of the goal areas.
We need to support the new General Education curriculum, as it would appear to be better for our students (and SCSU students in general) than the current system.
