Electrical Engineer Intern ( Transmission Engineering & Project Management)
At Great River Energy (GRE), we consider ourselves a leader in the energy industry, supplying electricity to 28 customer-owned electric co-ops across the state while being environmentally conscientious. We are currently recruiting for Electrical Engineer Intern to work an average of 15+ hours per week during the school year within the Transmission Engineering and Project Management department. Schedule is flexible and may vary based on selected candidate.
The Electrical Engineer Intern will provide engineering support to design engineers in the transmission and/or substation areas. Some independent work on projects of limited scope and duration will be included.
Main responsibilities will include:
Assisting substation/transmission engineers on substation/transmission design or additional projects of a limited scope and complexity. Work may include assisting with preparing estimates, schedules, specifications and procuring materials for projects with relatively few complex features.
Assisting in performing engineering studies, surveys, or evaluations in the areas of substation or transmission design.
Assist with engineering database creation and or manipulation associated with system-wide assets.
Assist with engineering assessment of equipment in or related to substations, transmission lines or associated sub-systems.
To qualify you must have:
- Attained third year status in an Electrical Engineering degree within an accredited university program
- 1+ year’s general engineering knowledge\experience obtained through college curriculum, internship and\or work experience
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access)
- Demonstrated skill in problem solving
- Ability to communicate in an effective manner
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to be productive and business focused
- Ability to work in a fast paced team environment
