Accreditation Committee Meeting Agenda

September 27th, 2006, 3:00 PM

Attending: Sura, Kay, Xidong, Mark

1. Request for all faculty members for Fall 2006:
    • keep students’ works (low, medium, high)
    • separate between CompE and EE students
    • categorized by department outcomes
    • Complete Course Assessment Report for courses taught in Spring 2006
    • Prerequisite Exam: each faculty will do one time per year.

Actions: approved by committee and request to faculty members was made in the department.

2. Method and tool to assess outcome g, h, i

Outcome g) Students will be able to operate on multi-disciplinary teams.

Method: we will start discussion with MME department regarding the possibility of merging the MME and ECE senior design class so that each group will have students from both MME and ECE program.

tool: one idea is to have students write an essay about working in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Outcome h) Students will be able to analyze the impact of electrical engineering solutions in global and societal contexts from identified contemporary issues.

Outcome i) Students will be able to make appropriate professional judgments in accordance with their ethical responsibilities.

Method: we will assess these outcomes mainly in MME 101 and senior design course.

Tool: we will use rubrics to assess student work in those classes.

3. Prereq. Exam is enough to access outcome a? and how do we use it?

Actions: the committee is considering of using average of score of student work in assessing outcome a and outcome b since each faculty always keep all score for all students to give a final grade. Kay will develop the process and form to assess those two outcomes.

4. Implement questions to ask IAC and SAC => implement surveys to ask other constituencies (alumni, parents, grad school, etc. – look in self-study)

Actions: committee is implementing questionnaire now.

5. Revise existing surveys(on-going).
