How many students are in the DGS program?
Will other students know that I am a part of the DGS program?
Will there only be DGS students in my courses?
How many times do my two courses COLL 150 (2 credits) and COLL 110 (2 credits) meet per week?
How can I apply to be a DGS student?
Students should take these two courses during their first semester at college. Students need to keep in mind that they only have one year to successfully complete the courses with a C- or better. Taking the courses in the first semester allows students the chance to retake a course if there is a situation that requires them to do so. After successfully completing the one year DGS agreement your status as a DGS student will end. The courses you take with DGS will appear on your college transcript, because they have earned you four SCSU elective credits.
DGS students are full members of the SCSU campus community and have the opportunity for participation in all SCSU activities, services, and programs. For example, students can compete in and attend sporting events, take any SCSU course, and join SCSU clubs/student organizations.
In the 2011-2012 academic year nearly 1/3 of all newly entering students were enrolled as DGS students for the fall semester. During the spring semester a small number of students have been enrolled as well.
No. Student information is kept confidential.
COLL 150 courses are designed for DGS students. Your general education courses will be with all SCSU students. Some sections of selected courses have space reserved for DGS students.
You will be meet for each course twice a week for a 50 minute class period.
Students cannot directly apply to DGS. The Admissions Office selects students to be a part of the DGS program.
