Admission to the Division of General Studies
Admission Process
- Complete the regular SCSU application process
- Applicants who are not granted regular admission to SCSU are considered by the Office of Admissions for temporary status as Division of General Studies students during their first two semesters. High school rank, high school academic record and progress, ACT scores, and perceived potential for successful completion of university coursework are the basis for review and acceptance into the Division of General Studies.
- If selected for admittance to the Division of General Studies, students will receive an acceptance letter from the admissions office stating they have been granted admittance through the Division of General Studies Program.
- Prior to the start of the student’s first academic semester, information on Student Advising and Registration Days will be received including an overview of the Division of General Studies Program.
Requirements for the Division of General Studies
- Enroll in COLL 150 and COLL 110 during the first semester at SCSU
- Complete COLL 150 and COLL 110 with a C- or better within the first two full academic semesters
- Maintain a grade point average of 1.75 or above for the year (2 semesters) they are enrolled as DGS students
- Failure to satisfactorily complete the requirements of the DGS program may result in probation and possible revocation of enrollment at SCSU
