A special collection of children’s books has been donated in memory of:
Megan Christopherson Hoisington
Megan graduated from St. Cloud State University magna cum laude in 2003 with a degree in elementary education. She taught second grade at Evans Elementary School in Colorado Springs, Colorado and considered teaching to be a privilege. Megan loved her students and took great pride and satisfaction in watching them learn and grow. After only a few months of teaching second grade Megan wrote:
“I am reminded everyday that teaching is the career for me. It has been both a challenge and a blessing. The kids make me smile and love each day.”
Megan married the man of her dreams, Zach Hoisington, just three days before she lost her life in a tragic car accident. In her memory her parents, brother, and new husband Zach, who survived the crash, decided to buy children’s books with the memorial money they received.
Megan’s family has since raised over $30,000, which has been used to purchase children’s book collections for classrooms in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Colorado. In addition, 100 books have been donated to the CTC here at SCSU.
