Advertising Policies
To preserve the educational spirit of the campus and in an effort to exercise some measure of control over the amount and appropriateness of materials displayed in academic facilities, St. Cloud State University requires that the following guidelines be applied when materials are posted in all academic buildings and/or on the kiosks located on institutional grounds.
- All materials must be posted on designated bulletin boards or mall kiosks and may not exceed 14" x 22" in size.
- Materials must be mounted with thumb-tacks.
- Only one announcement per program or event may be affixed to each designated site.
- Materials may not be posted on top of other materials that have been previously posted.
On the last day of each academic semester and/or summer session, the custodial staff will remove all announcements posted on designated bulletin boards. The security staff will, likewise, clear mall kiosks of all announcements at this time. This policy applies to materials posted in all academic and administrative facilities and on institutional grounds.
Materials may not be placed on the windshields of student, employee or visitor automobiles for any reason at any time. Persons found in violation of this policy will be charged an hourly clean-up fee.
Those interested in posting materials in campus residence halls or in Atwood Center should refer to the policies adopted by those operations and/or contact the directors of those respective units. Persons unfamiliar with designated posting sites should contact building coordinators. For a complete list of building coordinators, persons should contact Buildings & Grounds (308-2266). Information may also be picked up in the CSOLD office, AMC 139.
Residence Halls - Advertising for events sponsored by student organizations receive top priority for posting. With the approval and initials of the Residence Hall Director, organizations are allowed to post one advertisement in the lobby and on the floors in the residence halls. Most residence halls will post the signs in the appropriate location rather than have the organization post them. Advertisements deemed inappropriate will be returned to the organizations for rewriting.
Atwood Center - Organizations can post one advertisement no larger than 18" x 24" in each of the following designated areas:
- 2nd floor Ballroom Lounge
- Lower level main hallway at bottom of stairs
- Lower level fast food establishments
- Lower level southeast entrance across from Subway
- Lower level Brickyard dish return
- Bulletin Board in Student Activities Complex next to mailboxes
Table Tents - Organizations must first get approval from the Atwood Administration Office, Room 110, to display table tents. Table tents may be placed on tables for two weeks in Atwood Center food service areas only.
Atwood Bridge - Six spaces are available to hang posters above the main stairways to the lower level. The posted material must be firm enough to hang by clips and not taped. If the poster is not up by noon, the space will be given to the first group that makes a request. All posters must include your organization's name, contact person, and phone number. To reserve a space contact the Atwood Administration Office, Room 110.
Student Activities Complex - Posting will be allowed only in designated areas. Refer to the student activities complex information desk for exact locations and authorized subject material.
- No advertisement of alcoholic beverages or alcohol-related events will be approved through CSOLD.
- All organizations are expected to utilize posting space in an appropriate and respectful manner and not tear down or cover the advertisements of other groups.
- All posters or flyers must include your organization's name, contact person, and phone number or email address.
- Posters and flyers must be removed immediately after your event.
- Persons un familiar with designated posting sites should contact building coordinators. or a complete list of building coordinators, contact Buildings & Grounds at 308-2266 or CSOLD at 308-3004.
- Organizations having office space may post on the door to their office and in designated areas already mentioned.
