Fraternity & Sorority Learning Community:

On Tuesday, April 24th 2007 the Fraternity & Sorority Community has committed to support service to the SCSU 10th Annual Student Reserach Colloquium.

What is the Student Research Colloquium?

The goal of the Colloquium is to bring together students, faculty and members of the community involved in scholarly and artistic activities representing a range of disciplines, including Creative Arts, Mathematics, Business, Social Science, Humanities, Physical and Life Sciences, and Engineering, among others. Additional goals involve promoting research, scholarship, and creative activity done together with faculty as a vital component of higher education.

How are we volunteering? (Volunteer positions open - see Below!)

We have three specific parts to our volunteer and support.

  1. checkmark 1 Completed! Load-In: We need 20 Fraternity & Sorority Members to assist in the load-in of the Poster Board materials.

    When: Monday, April 23rd 2007 12noon - 12:40 (*probably about 20 minutes)

    Where: Atwood Center Loading Dock - to the Atwood Ball Room

    What: move poster board materials from truck on to carts, move them up the elevator to the second floor Ball room for set up.

    Who: Need 5 more members

  2. Load-Out: We need 20 Fraternity & Sorority Members to assist in the load-out of the Poster Board Materials.

    When: Wednesday, April 25th 2007 9:00am - 11:40 (*probably about 25 minutes)

    Where: Atwood Ball Room - Atwood Center Loading Dock

    What: move poster board materials from Ball room on to carts, move them up the elevator down to the loading dock and on to a truck

    Who: Phi Kappa Tau committed to (10) members

  3. SRC Day: We need a total of 37 Volunteers for a variety of jobs/ and duties during the day:

What is the dress/attire? All SRC staff are expected to where "Badge/Pin" attire for the day. This is a formal event and we are the staff working with the Faculty. You are expected to be groomed, dressed up, and present the best of what your Fraternity/Sorority represents. Please where your Badges/Pins for the day.

6:45 p.m. — All SRC attendees are welcome to a reception in AMC Cascade Room. Students who present their fully stamped
passports will be entered into a drawing to win $400 in prizes!

What is availble?

Room Host/Assistant to the Moderator: The Moderator is a Faculty member who manages each session. There will be about 4 presentations (20 minutes each) in each room. You will assist the faculty member and be responsible for the stamping of SRC passports for students who attend the sessions and any other assistance the faculty member (Moderator) needs. Poster Presentation Area Hosts: The Atwood Ball room will be hosting the Poster Presentatoin area. Hosts will manage a registration & information desk, stamp passports, monitor the food station, and direct visitors and presenters. This position includes some minor setup in assisting with:

Construction (hanging the show) stick pins, staples, etc., to attach your poster session materials to the 4' x 8' supporting board at presenters assigned times. We help with hanging and assisting presenters Job Description & Job Agreement form (Check Back)

SRC Registration: A main registration desk staff of faculty need student assistance to help manage the high volume of check-in and registration. This is a high profile working with faculty and the ability to know and understand the Days events. Strong customer service skills are needed. registration table is located outside of the
ballroom on the 2nd floor of Atwood Memorial Center (AMC).You must be on time!
