Army chaplain the Rev. Timothy Vakoc ’83 died June 20. Vakoc was seriously injured in Iraq in 2004 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee. Shannon Johnson (KPO) was awarded a Scholarship for her academic performance at the Mid-American Greek Leadership Conference on Friday, February 13th, 2009 hosted in St. Louis, MO.

Shannons scholarship award was awarded based on her academics, leadership as a member of the SCSU Panhellenic Council, V.P. of Academic Success & Scholarship.

Fraternity adopts local ponds Friday, November 7, 2008 ST. CLOUD, MN – The Zeta Xi Chapter of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity at St. Cloud State University has adopted two ponds in the city of St. Cloud.

Quincy Nang, Ben Hedlund, Nathan Severtson and Travis Gause (Theta Chi) contributed to a Minneapolis Star Tribune story about college programs that educate male students about sexual assault. Sorority, fraternity jumping for Painted Turtle ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The seventh annual 72-hour trampoline-a-thon fundraising event led by Delta Zeta Sorority at St. Cloud State University will benefit the Painted Turtle, a camp for children with chronic and life threatening illnesses.

Walgreen Jr. Tau Kappa Epsilon Leadership Academy graduated 60 members, (Todd Neal and Nathan Brown of SCSU Theta-Rho were part of this group of leaders) the largest in its history, June 3rd. This holistic development opportunity occurs each summer for the best and brightest leaders of TKE chapters across the United States and Canada. This year's exciting program was held Friday, May 30 through Tuesday, June 3, at Trail's End Conference Center, located in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. Learn more by clicking here.

Fraternity raises $3,000 in Relay for Life ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) chapter at St. Cloud State University earned first place for the 2008 SCSU Relay for Life, raising over $3,000.  St. Cloud State’s Fifth Annual Relay for Life took place Friday-Saturday, March 14-15, to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society.

Fraternity/sorority student leaders win national prize ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The fraternity/sorority learning community of St. Cloud State University took a first place at the Mid-American Greek Council Association annual meeting Feb. 23 in Chicago.

The Huskies earned their WCHA Final Five berth by sweeping the University of Wisconsin at the National Hockey Center. View a 27-photo slide show from the March 14 and March 15 action. Singing the Star Spangled Banner before the games were junior Stephanie Farah (Delta Zeta) , an anthropology major from McGregor, and sophomore Bryan T. Phi Kappa Tau members Josh Arneson, Brianna Erickson, Anton Reichl and Amie Youngdahl helped their fraternity raise $2,500 for chronically and terminally ill children. The students stayed outdoors on the university mall from 9 a.m. Feb. 11 to 1 p.m. Feb. 15. sctimes.com
