Room Host/Assistant to the Moderator: The Moderator is a Faculty member who manages each session. There will be about 4 presentations (20 minutes each) in each room. You will assist the faculty member and be responsible for the stamping of SRC passports for students who attend the sessions and any other assistance the faculty member (Moderator) needs.

Poster Presentation Area Hosts: The Atwood Ball room will be hosting the Poster Presentatoin area. Hosts will manage a registration & information desk, stamp passports, monitor the food station, and direct visitors and presenters. This position includes some minor setup in assisting with:

 

SRC Registration: A main registration desk staff of faculty need student assistance to help manage the high volume of check-in and registration. This is a high profile working with faculty and the ability to know and understand the Days events. Strong customer service skills are needed. registration table is located outside of the
ballroom on the 2nd floor of Atwood Memorial Center (AMC).You must be on time!

Sessions starting with an A or T denote poster presentations. Please plan to arrive about one hour prior to your poster session to pick up your student packet at the Registration Desk outside the Ballroom in Atwood and to allow adequate time for set up. Poster sessions are as follows:

Poster Presentations I 9:00 – 10:50 AM Session A

Poster Presentations II 2:00 – 3:50 PM Session T

Paper presentation sessions are as follows:

The Student Research Colloquium (SRC) brings together students, faculty and members of the community involved in scholarly and artistic activities representing a range of disciplines, including Creative Arts, Mathematics, Business, Social Science, Humanities, Physical and Life Sciences, and Engineering, among others. Additional goals involve promoting research, scholarship, and creative activity done together with faculty as a vital component of higher education. The SCSU Fraternity & Sorority Community provides the staffing and logistics for this annual event. Intended to engage Fraternity & Sorority members in faculty relationships, student research inquiry, and giving back to SCSU!

2008 F/S Faculty Service Project

NEW Student Research Fund! The Office of Sponsored Programs is pleased to announce the availability of funds to support academic research and creative activity carried out by undergraduate and graduate students under the direction of a faculty member. Plan for SRC 2008! April 22nd, 2008

  • Intent to present deadline: February 15, 2008
  • Abstract submission deadline: March 5, 2008 (since March 1 falls on a Saturday)

Among the 350 students presenting at our Student Research Colloquium was students affiliated with Force10 Networks, a Silicon Valley company with a St. Cloud State pedigree. Joel Goergen ’86, who earned degrees in mathematics and electrical engineering and is the holder of 13 patents, is vice-president of technology and chief scientist for the San Jose, Calif. firm. Force 10 provides high-performance networking systems. Electrical engineering majors Nick Stein, Eric Voegele and Ryan Doheny were part of the St. Cloud Times story about the colloquium. sctimes.com
