Want to organize an event and need help organizing? CSOLD can assist you.

Contracting for entertainers and speakers

Student organizations that want to pay entertainers and speakers they bring to campus have to first make a university approved contract with them. CSOLD can assist with the entire process.

Budget Consultation

CSOLD offers consultation on preparing budgets, raising and spending funds, getting reimbursed, and anything related to student organizations’ finance.

Advising for officers, members and advisor of organizations

CSOLD provides advising on budget and financial planning, decision making, effective communication, motivation and more.

Workshop on Demand

Workshop on Demand is a component of the Husky L.E.A.D program. It is available to students, student groups, student organizations, faculty and staff. The program brings leadership workshops presented by the CSOLD and surrounding community to your organization. For possible workshop topics, please visit Workshop on Demand. You may also request your own topic and CSOLD will do their best to find a presenter to facilitate on the topic.

AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS

Student Leader of the Year Award

To honor and recognize a student who has shown outstanding service to a recognized student organization(s) with vision, leadership and ability to meet the goals of the student organization(s).

Advisor of the Year

This award will be presented to an advisor who has been a mentor, a source of support, and has inspired growth within a registered student organization.

Student Organization of the Year

This award will be presented to the registered student organization that has shown outstanding commitment to the organizations goals, has made an impact in the campus community, and has excelled in program planning, financial management, and leadership development of its group members.

Non-Traditional Student Scholarship

Who is qualified?
Non-traditional students (25 and over) who:
• Wish to enter SCSU for the first time, have interrupted their studies and now wish to continue them or are enrolled full time or part time.
• Are seeking a career, a career change or upward mobility in their present career.
• Demonstrate a commitment to equal employment opportunity.
• Have financial need.

Shelvie Christian Memorial Scholarship
The purpose of this endowment is to recognize St. Cloud State University non-traditional students who are involved in on-campus extracurricular activities and who are making a contribution to the betterment of SCSU student life as Shelvie exemplified. Applicants must be an enrolled non-traditional student at SCSU (25 years of age or older). Applicants also must be involved in SCSU student extracurricular activities. Part-time non-traditional students are eligible.

The SCSU Excellence in Leadership Award

The University Award for Excellence in Leadership identifies and honors students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership while at St. Cloud State University. The program recognizes students who, through their leadership efforts, have made significant contributions to St. Cloud State University and their communities based on an evaluation of their academic commitment and their leadership experiences.

Rich Murray Volunteer Service Scholarship

The Rich Murray Volunteer Service Scholarship ($500) recognizes a St. Cloud State University student who has demonstrated a commitment of giving through volunteerism while a student at St. Cloud State University. This may be service with an established organization or individual acts of service over a significant period of time. The scholarship is available to any St. Cloud State University student, undergraduate or graduate. Only service activities done while a student at St. Cloud State University will be recognized.

Conway, Dueth & Schmiesing Building Hope Scholarship

The Conway, Deuth & Schmiesing, PLLP Building Hope Scholarship was established in conjunction with Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity (CMHFH) to give a student the opportunity to provide meaningful volunteer services to fulfill needed activities for Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity. The scholarship recipient earns $1,000 by providing 100 hours of service to Central MN Habitat for Humanity (CMHFH).

EVENTS

Student Organization Fairs

CSOLD organizes Student Organization Fairs including- Mainstreet every Fall and Sidestreet every Spring. These fairs provide an opportunity for student organizations to showcase what they have to offer to new and returning students. This is an opportunity for organizations to inform others about your group, recruit new members and find out what other groups on campus have to offer.

Volunteer Opportunities & Events

Volunteer Connection organizes various events such as: Neighborhood Clean-Ups, Spring Break Service Trips, Volunteer & Service Learning Fairs, Into the Streets, “Make a Child Smile” Gift Drive, Community Engagement Celebration and Expo and many more. If you are interested in participating in any of these events or want to learn more about volunteer opportunities, please visit Volunteer Connection website or contact Volunteer Connection coordinator at 8-5693.

Leadership Development Institute (LDI)

The Institute offers a range of tracks designed for students to develop their five dimensions of leadership competency: Self Management, Leading Others, Task Management, Innovation and Social Responsibility. Each of the five dimensions will offer different competency sessions each year, so once you participate, you can continue your personal journey to develop your leadership competencies.

The Leadership Development Institute is designed to help student organization officers, members and advisors to develop skills and strategies. Student Organizations’ officers are highly encouraged to attend LDI and engage and participate in their personal leadership skills development.

Fall and Spring Kickoff

CSOLD organizes the kickoff committees that coordinate Kickoff events at the beginning of fall and spring semester. Please contact the CSOLD Director at 308-3004 to learn more about being involved with the Kickoff Committee.

LIBRARY

Leadership, Volunteer and Service-Learning Library

CSOLD has a collection of books on leadership, service, and academic service-learning that students can borrow. To borrow the books please visit CSOLD at AMC 139.

NEWSLETTER

Student Organization Newsletter

CSOLD sends out newsletters two times every month to student organizations’ advisors and presidents. You can also access them at CSOLD’s website under Organization Resources.

Service Bulletin

It is a newsletter Volunteer Connection emails every two weeks listing information about on and off-campus service opportunities and special events. If you want to receive the electronic newsletter, send an email to volunteer@stcloudstate.edu.

Fraternity and Sorority Newsletter

Sent out every week it contains information on campus fraternities and sororities and their ongoing activities. If you want to learn more about them, please contact the Assistant Director of CSOLD at 308-5544.

RESOURCES

Computers

CSOLD allocates a limited number of computers to student organizations with lockable space to it every spring upon request. Depending on the number available, they are given to clubs on their need basis. To check the availability for this semester, contact CSOLD at 308-3004.

Mailboxes

Every student organization has a mailbox near CSOLD in Atwood. Please contact 308-3004 for more information.

Equipment Loan

Portable coolers, Sign Cades, work gloves and first aid kits are available to student organizations to borrow. For more information please contact Volunteer Connection Coordinator at 308-5693.

Financial resources

1400 form, Contract Request Form can be obtained from the CSOLD office. If a club needs assistance in filling out a reimbursement form, please contact CSOLD at 308-3094.

Office Space

Student organizations can get office space in Atwood through CSOLD.  Applications are available in Spring Semester with office space allocated from July 1 to June 30. To check whether your club meets the requirements to get an office space visit-

ICS Student Organization Webspace

CSOLD provides a login and password to all student organizations for the Interactive Collegiate System (ICS) where they can maintain and manage members’ list, recruit new members, send out bulk emails, complete the annual registration process and more. If you want more information on how to access ICS and for its login and password, contact the Graduate Assistants for Student Organization Finance at 308-3094.

Personal email for the club

Personal email for club form is available in Miller Center (MC 108) and in CSOLD to apply for a HuskyNet Account for student organizations. A HuskyNet ID provides the group with an email account, computer file space, and an additional web space.

Storage Space

Student organizations can get a free storage locker in Atwood Center. The storage spaces are a great way to keep files and other materials regarding your group as a permanent storage option. Stop by CSOLD to get access to your group’s storage space.

Workroom

CSOLD has a workroom that all organizations are able to use for decorating items, painting, and other uses for your student organization. Here are some helpful facts about use of the workroom:

  • The Workroom is always unlocked when Atwood Memorial Center is open. Check in at the CSOLD Resource Desk to use the room from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays through Friday.
  • To access the room from 9 p.m. to12 midnight on Fridays and during weekends, please check in with the Atwood Building Manager.
  • All groups are responsible for cleaning up after themselves when using the room including washing paintbrushes, tables, floors, and other items in the room.
  • The room cannot be reserved. Please make room if more than one group is using the room at a time.
  • Groups may store items they are constructing in the workroom. However; the room is not locked, so you do so at your own risk and notify CSOLD staff that you need to store items in the workroom.

SCSU Student Legal Services

CSOLD provides free legal services to students through the Student Government Association program. To schedule an appointment with the university attorney, please visit CSOLD Resource Desk or call at 308-3004

Co-curricular Transcript

CSOLD offers a Co-curricular Transcript (CCT) program that allows you to document your activities outside the classroom. The CCT lists your involvement and accomplishments while attending St. Cloud State University. Students complete their transcript themselves and can access it anytime online. If you need an official copy of your CCT, stop by the CSOLD Resource Desk to get one.

Web-based volunteer matching service via United Way link

Volunteer Central Minnesota is a service of United Way of Central Minnesota that instantly links you to volunteer opportunities that match your interests, skills and schedule. For more information, contact the Volunteer Connection Coordinator at 308-5693.
