Center for Student Organizations and Leadership Development (CSOLD)

Getting involved in student organizations can be one of the greatest, most rewarding experiences you will have whle you are in college. SCSU has student organizations that reflect the diversity of student life on campus. By joining an organization you will have the opportunity to network and socialize with students who have similar interests. Additionally, you will interact with a wide variety of faculty, staff, and even community members depending on what you get involved in.

Bledsoe et al. (1997) found that involvement in extracurricular activities in college had a positive correlation to the completion of a bachelor’s degree and continuing to graduate, professional or doctorial degrees.

Bledsoe, T., Brown, S.R., Goldstein, A.R., Goyen, K.D., Rounds, L.E., Street, J., Winston, R.B., Wisbey, M.E. (1997). Describing the Climate of Student Organizations: The student Organization Environment Scales. Journal of College Student Development, 38, 417-427.
