Husky Venture Program 2007-08

Leadership is an ongoing process that involves knowledge, skill, and change. Good leaders are made, not born, and many leaders are needed in our communities today. If you have the desire and the willpower, you can learn to be an effective leader.
The Husky Venture Program is a series of interactive leadership workshops designed around the 7 C’s of the Social Change Model. The program is structured so that students can begin to explore leadership or expand their current knowledge.

Participants will learn useful strategies in group leadership for effective and productive meetings and will have an opportunity to practice group leadership skills in small groups.

Learn tips and techniques to help your group 'get on the same page' and create a stronger purpose for your organization.

Using information about your organization or group is a great way to make a change.  This interactive session will look at a variety of ways to plan, use, and implement changes and ideas using assessment data.

Effective leaders and well-functioning groups create opportunities to give and receive feedback to improve their organizations.  Learn techniques and role-play situations to improve one of the most difficult aspects of leadership

The “Understanding Racism and Anti-Racism Organizing,” workshop is a key component of our efforts to change the university’s racial identity and culture.   During the workshop, facilitators and participants will unpack the following topics: 

Defining Racial Justice and Racism
Deepening the Definition
Systemic Power, Access and Control
Power and Privilege
Power and Race
The Need for Systemic Change
Institutional Transformation
Follow Up Opportunities

This will be a fun session on how you can use “change” to improve your life and help your organization. The program will focus on the concepts highlighted in the video “Who Moved My Cheese”
