Admission

Admission requirements for the PSEL Master's Degree will be governed by the requirements specified by the consortium of participating MnSCU universities based on traditional graduate school programs.

In addition to the basic admission requirements by the graduate programs in each of these institutions, admission requirements for the PSEL Master's Degree at SCSU are:

  • An earned Baccalaureate Degree in related disciplines including Social Sciences, Business Administration, and Education from an accredited institution will be required for unconditional admission into the program.
  • An official transcript reflecting an earned Baccalaureate Degree.
  • The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) will be required for admissions. Admissions will also consider professional experience, professional aspirations, as well as academic achievement in the baccalaureate degree.
  • Applicant must present at least two letters of recommendation from current public safety agency supervisors.
  • Two years or more of public safety agency experience.
  • Applicant currently must be employed full-time in a public safety agency.
  • Applicant must present a statement of intent not exceeding five typewritten, double-spaced pages describing the applicant’s prior education, relevant professional experience, career goals and specific relation of the Public Safety Executive Leadership Master’s Program to the achievement of these goals.
  • The application process will be coordinated with the respective college and universities’ graduate programs.
  • Completed SCSU Graduate School application with $35.00 non-refundable application fee.
