January 25:  Increasing Optimism and Resilience  

Life can be difficult, stressful and, at times, painful. How we respond to the situations in our lives can make a big difference in our sense of well being. This talk will look at how to increase optimism and resilience by changing some of your thinking patterns.

February 1:  Time Management

Do you find there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done?  This presentation will help you find out where your time goes.  Then it will teach you some strategies for prioritizing commitments so you can find time for the important things in your life, including time for yourself.

February 8:  Brain Based Study Skills

Information on study skill topics to help you learn more effectively and efficiently, and earn better grades.

February 15:  Test Anxiety

This presentation is directed toward those students who have difficulty performing on tests due to excessive nervousness or worry. Methods of dealing with anxiety will be addressed.

February 22:  How to Help a Friend you are Concerned About

This presentation is for anyone who has concerns about the health and well being of a friend. We'll talk about warning signs, strategies to discuss your concerns with your friend and where you can find additional help.

March 1:  Mental Health and Exercise

Learn about the mental health benefits of exercise, how to improve your enjoyment and commitment to exercise as well as address barriers to participating in a physical activity routine.

March 15:  Assertiveness

Assertiveness is expressing our thoughts, feelings and beliefs in a direct, honest and appropriate way. It means that we have respect for both ourselves and for others. An assertive person effectively influences, listens and negotiates so that others choose to cooperate willingly. Learn some assertiveness strategies.

March 22:  Self Care

In the midst of college life, the demands on our time can be overwhelming. How do we take better care of ourselves when we have multiple priorities and demands? We can start by getting back to the basics of self-care. Come to this session and learn about the importance of finding balance amidst the chaos through specific strategies to take better care of our minds, bodies, and spirits.

March 29:  Healthy Relationships

Most people get more training in how to drive a car than how to build and maintain healthy relationships. Learn about how to become a person capable of choosing a healthy partner and building a healthy relationship. Learn how to enhance & deepen your relationships.

April 5:  Motivation

Many students encounter problems with academic motivation. This discussion will aim to help students understand how people are motivated and what might be missing from their motivation toward school.

April 12:  Suicide Prevention

This presentation will address warning signs and symptoms of people who may be thinking of suicide. Come and get information on what you can do to help a friend or loved one.

April 19: Managing your Mood

This session takes a cognitive approach to managing your mood. You will learn about how to identify problematic thoughts, moods, behaviors and physical reactions to situations in your life and discuss some tools for changing your approach to those problems.

April 26:  Getting Over It:  How to Survive the End of a Relationship

Are you having a difficult time moving on following the break-up of a relationship?  Has the advice of friends not been helpful? Join me, Jessica Wright, MA as I discuss how to survive the loss of a relationship.
