Training Opportunities

Counseling and Psychological Services offers 9-month (academic year), part-time (20 hour) training positions to students seeking doctoral-level practicum or masters-level internship. As a graduate counselor, your training at CAPS is primarily focused on individual counseling with students, and you will receive regular individual supervision provided by licensed psychologists.  For more information, you may download this PDF or contact the Coordinator of Training.

The 2012-2013 training positions begin Monday, August 27, 2012 and end Friday, May 10, 2013.

1. A letter describing your interest and goals for training
2. Current curriculum vitae
3. Graduate transcripts
4. Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which is from someone who has observed your prior clinical experience with clients. Clinical experience may include employment in a clinical setting or a previous therapy or diagnostic practicum.

Electronic copies of any materials will be accepted. However, an original copy of transcripts and original, signed, hard copies of any recommendation letters must be received in order to give final acceptance to a candidate.

Application Due Dates

Applications received by Wednesday, February 22, 2012 will be considered in a first round of selection, and we will offer on-site interviews to select candidates with completed applications. If positions remain unfilled, we will consider applications received by Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in a second round of selection.  If a third round of applications is used, the due date will be Wednesday, April 4, 2012.
