Clinical Staff

 

Charlene Carroll Hanisch, MS, LICSW

Counselor
Charlene completed her Master's degree in Community Counseling and Rehabilitationat at St. Cloud State University in 1994. Since then, she has worked at the St. Cloud Group Home providing individual and family therapy and for the past 10 years as an individual, family, and couples therapist at Central Minnesota Mental Health Center. Charlene is a generalist with areas of specialty in women’s issues, relationship dynamics, trauma and abuse issues, depression and anxiety, and grief and loss.

John Eggers, PhD, LP

Director
John completed his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University in 1992. Before coming to St. Cloud State University in 2006, he worked 16 years at the Central Minnesota Mental Health Center in St. Cloud, as a Psychologist and Clinical Supervisor of mental health and addictions programs. John describes himself a generalist, having worked with a wide variety of clientele over the course of his career to date.

JoAnn Gasparino, PhD, LP

Professor
JoAnn completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from University of Minnesota in 1986. She has special interests in depression and grief, self esteem, identity development and spirituality.

Stephen Jenkins, PhD, ABPP, LP

Associate Professor and Coordinator of Training
Steve completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rochester in 2004 and is board certified in Counseling Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Steve is a generalist with special interests in human motivation, identity and self-development, multiculturalism, gender issues, human sexuality, relationships, depression, and supervision and training.

Davin Maijala, PsyD, LP

Counselor
Davin completed his Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas (Minneapolis) in 2011.  He is a generalist whose clinical areas of interest include anxiety, relationships, family of origin concerns, grief and loss issues, and working with LGBT students and students from other diverse populations.  

Taunja Meers , MSW, LICSW

Director of Case Management Program
Taunja received her Master's in Social Work from the University of MN-Duluth. Prior to coming to St. Cloud State University, Taunja worked for 26 years at the St. Cloud Hospital, primarily on the inpatient mental health unit with adolescents and adults. She has extensive experience in brief crisis counseling and case management. As CAPS case manager, she can assess students' needs and connect them with resources within the University and community in order to enhance their ability to be successful in school, work, and life.

Rose Stark-Rose, PhD, LP

Professor
Rose received her Ph.D. in Urban Education with a specialization in Counseling Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2001. She is a generalist with special interests in multicultural/diversity issues, eating disorders and body image, abuse survivors, relationship issues and career development.

Ellen Gish

Master's Intern Counselor
Ellen earned her BFA at the University of Iowa and is currently enrolled in the MA counseling program at the University of St. Thomas. She has previous experience as a marriage preparation sponsor and spirituality-based group facilitator.

Dina Nelson

Doctoral Practicum Counselor
Dina earned her BS at University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and her MA at Saint Mary’s University in Counseling and Psychological Services. She is currently enrolled in the PsyD program at St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis. Among Dina’s previous counseling-related experiences, she has worked as an in-home family counselor, crisis interventionist in a woman’s abuse shelter, and was a psychiatric technician in the US Army National Guard.

Jason Stahl

Doctoral Practicum Counselor
Jason earned his BAS at the University of Minnesota and is currently enrolled in the PsyD program at Argosy University – Twin Cities. He previously completed assessment training at Schlutter & Associates in St. Louis Park.
