Dan Gregory named dean of College of Science and Engineering

President Earl Potter has announced that Dan Gregory has been named dean of the College of Science and Engineering. He has been serving as interim dean for the past year and following a competitive national search was selected to lead the college.
Gregory has been part of the St. Cloud State community since being hired as assistant professor of chemistry in 1999. In 2006 Professor Gregory was named chair of the Department of Chemistry, a position he held for three years. In 2009 he was appointed to the position of Interim Assistant Vice President for Research and Sponsored Programs, followed by the Interim Associate Provost for Research/Dean of Graduate Studies in 2010. Following a national search, he was named to the permanent position of Associate Provost for Research/Dean of the Graduate School in 2011.
Gregory earned his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with honors from Southwest State University, Marshall; and his Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from Iowa State University in Ames where he received the Proctor and Gamble Excellence in Research Fellowship, National Science Foundation’s GAAN Fellowship, and Alpha Chi Sigma Excellence in Research Award.
As interim dean, Gregory has built and strengthened partnerships with science-based business and industry and has ably led the College of Science and Engineering and the School of Computing, Engineering and Environment through a period of significant change and development, including the opening of the Integrated Science and Engineering Laboratory Facility.
