Joseph Odumeru, Ph.D.
Dr. Odumeru obtained his B.Sc. Honors in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Western Ontario and his M.Sc and Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology from the University of Manitoba. His work experience include 25 years of experience in diagnostic microbiology and research work in industrial, medical, food and environmental microbiology. He is currently the Director of Laboratory Services Branch, Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Adjunct Professor Department of Food Science, University of Guelph.
His research interests include development of rapid methods for the detection, enumeration and identification of microorganisms in food, water and environmental samples, molecular methods for microbial source tracking. Dr Odumeru’s research publications include 70 publications and review papers in peer review journals, 85 abstracts and presentations in scientific meetings. He is the recipient of the 2009 IAFP Maurice Weber Laboratorian Award.
