Statistics/Computer Networking and Applications Departmental Goals
1. The department will study the recommendations of the American Statistical Association and the Association for Computing Machinery and will modify programs and courses to reflect these recommendations, SCSU needs, and departmental expertise and resources.
2. The department will continue to make teaching excellence a priority.

The department will encourage faculty to pursue new ideas in statistics and computer networking through study, applied and/or theoretical research and the maintenance of professional contacts beyond campus. Faculty will also be encouraged to pursue continued education and retraining, an enthusiasm for working with other faculty across campus on joint projects, and a willingness to accept additional burdens on occasion in order to accommodate the needs of other faculty engaged in scholarly and creative activity.

In addition, we will continually revise and update placement and advising techniques and work with high schools, community colleges, and other institutions to clarify and articulate our curriculum standards.
7. The department will continue to identify and request funding for computing facilities necessary to support our majors, minors, literacy programs and service courses for the university community.
