Courses are open to licensed Law Enforcement officers, reserve officers, non-sworn officers or those studying Law Enforcement through a partnering school.
Advanced Driving Skills (ADS) for Professionals courses:
1.5 hours of classroom and 5.5 hours of in vehicle courses held at the MHSRC and designed for operators of company or privately owned vehicles. Drivers will learn vehicular control techniques in collision avoidance, backing vehicles in various situations, braking with special emphasis on anti-lock brake systems, an overview of advanced vehicle dynamics dependent on specific vehicles including front wheel drive-rear wheel drive and four wheel drive, and in vehicle skid control techniques. Operators will also review human reaction time and the application, vehicular following distances, effects of fatigue and the importance of proper visual techniques.
Advanced Driving Skills (ADS) Public courses:
1.5 hours of classroom and 5.5 hours of in vehicle courses held at the MHSRC and designed for the average driver who would like to become a better driver. ADS Public classes are attended by many different age groups and many walks of life including seniors, novice drivers and their parents.
