Driver Improvement Program
Driver Improvement classes are informative, interesting and will help keep you current on the latest information. Participants will leave with a better understanding of crash data, new vehicle technology, laws, defensive driving tips and the latest in traffic safety information. The classes are interactive and enjoyable and there are no tests.
First time participants must take an 8 hour course to qualify for the 10% auto insurance discount for three years. A 4 hour refresher course must be taken every 3 years to maintain the discount.
Cost: The 8 hour course fee is $24. The 4 hour course fee is $20.
Violator/Court Ordered Defensive Driver
This course is designed for persons who are either court ordered for citation forgiveness or for someone who wants more information on traffic and vehicle safety. This awareness level class will present information on MN crash data with emphasis on preventing crashes. New vehicle technology, laws and defensive driving will also be discussed. This is an 8 hour course. Contact MHSRC at 1-888-234-1294 to register so that the appropriate certificate will be issued.
Cost: The violator-court ordered defensive driver course fee is $100.
