HIGHER EDUCATION ADMINISTRATION
003705 A Cultural Introduction to Higher Education in Italy 3
Imbra
These courses will examine each stage of the Italian educational system from nursery school (asilo nido) through the various levels and choices of secondary and high school. Since Italy boasts the oldest universities in the world - those of Salerno, Bologna, Padua, and Pavia the main focus of the course will examine the choices for higher education.  The curriculum will provide students with an organized, focused, and academically rich understanding of the Italian education system and its critical issues. Attention is given to the structure, organization, admission procedures, attendance policies, credits, grading system of the modern university, etc. In addition, the role of the family in student life will also be examined. The course will provide additional enrichment through contextual use of Italian language and terminology.  Throughout the course, there will be constant comparison to the U.S. system of education and American culture.
